Futurewife II.JPG

The second EP from TASKRZ / DCMI drummer and singer Sophie Bret Tasker is out on DROMA Records now and will be publicly available on all streaming services from tomorrow (April 11).

FutureWife blends pop and R&B into harmony laden, house tinged electro. This EP ‘Ultrasound’ is a follow up to 2018’s ‘Nicest Day’.

Enjoy it!

Check out the Futurewife BBC Session!

FUTUREWIFE was kindly asked to play a BBC Introducing session in early May and now it's been aired. We're really thankful to Rob Adcock for sorting this out for us and for taking a real interest in what the project is all about.

Sophie spoke to Rob about the process of making the record and the emotional ups and downs that it represents. It's a great little interview that really captures what the Nicest Day EP is all about. In terms of performing I actually had stuff to do, as opposed to pretending to play the keyboard (which is what I was hoping to do.)

You can listen to the interview for a week or so on the BBC Website.

Enjoy,

Futurewife debut released - listen now!

For over a year SBT has been working away on this project, with help from JT and UTC, Stoke.

The four track debut E.P comes in at just under 10 minutes and is a collision of silky 80's synths, agitated beats and gorgeous harmonies. SBT's documented the story behind the EP on Futurewife's Instagram page, it's worth a read whilst you check the tunes out.

Listen on Spotify via this link.

Listen and then buy it on Bandcamp via this link.

Enjoy! TASKRZ news next week.

Futurewife on the radio and new TASKRZ tunes

I think you all know now that SBT has been working hard on a project called FUTUREWIFE. It's a short electro EP that stalks its way through some seriously heavy topics, whilst keeping it cool with 80s tinged synths and gorgeous harmonies.

On Saturday she appeared on Rob Adcock's BBC Introducing Show. You can listen to the show by following this link. She's on about an hour and a half into it. You need a BBC account these days - so if you don't have one you'll need to sign up for free.

The EP 'Nicest Day' gets released this week, on Valentines Day. If you want to pre order it follow this link. You'll get the title track as a download straight away if you do.

What else did we do this weekend?

Well JT and SBT took a few hours out to record the scratch tracks for some new TASKRZ material.

The new stuff sounds fantastic. One is really poppy and echoes early era Strokes, whilst the other is just pure dirt - proper TAD style sludge. There's no real time line on when the new stuff will see the light of day. Maybe the summer time? Maybe a bit later? We keep saying we'll do an album this year, but Wolf Party nearly killed us and we quite like being alive.

In the meantime enjoy our re released version of Hogs From Hell and prepare yourself for our new version of Trials that comes out next month.

Saturday night the three of us played a nice little acoustic gig for a private party. It was fun, although I'm worried we might have burst a little girl's ear drum...she didn't seem too happy with us. Laura was ill and described the whole gig experience as being 'underwater'.

Big love, bigger vibes,

Pre Order the FUTUREWIFE E.P

Futurewife is a new project from DROMA Records. The project has been driven by the lyrics and songwriting of myself Sophie Bret Tasker, with music also created by my brother Jack Tasker.

I’ve spent the last year of my life channelling my experiences into this succinct collision of of electronic expression and catchy pop sensibilities. It would not have been possible, or anywhere near as fun, without my brother Jack and the brilliant Tom Bath of UTC Studios, Stoke.

Recording was done at DROMA Records, with mixing and mastering provided by long time collaborators UTC. The debut EP ‘Nicest Day’ will be released on Valentine's Day 2018.
